Grilling Hot Dogs And Hamburgers
One can never go wrong serving grilled hot dogs or hamburgers. Kids of all ages and adults love to eat them especially now that it’s summertime. Grilling is not hard to do. It’s actually quite simple and doesn’t take long to do. This is one reason why you can usually find hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill during any barbecue you attend. Besides what’s a barbecue without grilled hot dogs or hamburgers?
The first step to grilling is buying some high-quality meat. You want the best tasting yet nutritious meat to grill, whether it’s beef or turkey. Hillshire Farms comes highly recommended. They offer various sausages and links in different flavors. Keep in mind when picking out your hamburger meat that the leaner the beef you buy is, the drier your burgers will be. Get a tennis ball-sized piece of beef and flatten it into a patty, but be sure the patty is the same thickness along the edge as in the middle.
Next comes what may be the most important part, and that is the seasoning of the hamburger meat. A good burger is no different from any other piece of meat you plan on grilling. Use plenty of salt and pepper but you can use other seasonings too. A nice sprinkling of herbs and spices will give you burger that flavor it needs. Once your patties are formed and seasoned then they are ready to be grilled.
If you are not grilling the burgers right away then you can stack the ground beef patties on a plate. Separate the burger patties with pieces of waxed paper and refrigerate them until it is time to grill. Get your grill up to a high heat. Some people prefer to use gas grills while others like to use charcoal grills. As far as the taste goes no one can really tell the difference between hamburgers grilled on a charcoal grill as opposed to gas. But if you’re cooking steak, it is noticeable; a charcoal grilled steak has more distinct smoke flavor.
Make sure the grill is clean then place the hamburger patties on the well-oiled grill grate. Grill the burgers over high heat for about five minutes on each side. If you insert the thermometer in the middle of the patty and it reads 160 degrees F then the hamburger is considered cooked to medium. Be sure to turn your hot dogs often until they are slightly blistered on all sides. After your burgers and hot dogs are grilled always transfer them to a clean plate. Never put them on the same plate that held the raw meat. Hillshire Farms has some of the best hot dogs. They don’t just make hot dog links but lunchmeat and sausages too.
