THE BEST HOMEMADE RICE RECIPE

Serving a great homemade rice recipe can leave you feeling great. It is quite easy and only requires one to know the basic instructions. Here is a good step by step guide to making a great rice recipe.

Step 1
Wash the rice thoroughly in the cold water, rubbing it between your palms. Rinse several times pouring out the water. Repeat until you notice that the water has changed from white to clear. Thereafter, you can pour it into a drainer. If you do not have one, then you can just drain off the water using your hands. For one cup of rice, add one and a half cups of water to your cooking pot. If you have to use a pan, then a non-sticky one is ideal since you will only have to stir a little to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Meanwhile, add some water to the rice until it covers it fully.

Step 2
After an hour, drain the water from the rice. On your boiling pot, add sufficient water and put it on fire. Wait until it boils. Once it boils, you can add the washed rice. It is advisable that you do not bring the water and the rice to boil at the same time as this could result to uneven boiling of the rice. At this point, lower the heat so as to prevent the water from spilling over.

STEP 3
Add a little salt if you like and stir to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the pan or pot. If you like, you can add some drops of lemon juice. Lemon makes the rice look whiter as it cooks.
STEP 4
Once you notice large bubbles, cover your pot with a lid and reduce the heat to the lowest point. After some 12 to 15 minutes, check the rice. The best way to know how cooked the rice is taking a grain and mashing it on a plate. This will tell you if the rice needs more cooking or whether it is ready. In case it is ready, strain the rice and allow it to stay in the pot for some few minutes.
